Opinion: Wind is a valued economic driver in rural Okla.
The wind industry is an important community partner vested in the best interests of Oklahoma, writes Tim Faltyn, president of Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He praises Enel Green Power, Invenergy and other firms for investing in the school's wind energy training programs and the industry for infusing revenue into K-12 schools.

Opinion: Mass. would directly benefit from Vineyard Wind project
Vineyard Wind's proposal to build an 800-megawatt offshore wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts would directly benefit the state by creating more than 1,000 jobs and connect a cable to Cape Cod's Mid Cape, infusing millions of dollars into the affected communities, writes the editorial board of the Cape Cod Times. "The biggest direct benefit for the Cape is likely grid reliability and resilience," it adds.

Iowa-based Washburn Wind Energy is seeking approval from the Black Hawk County Planning and Zoning Board to build a 35-turbine, 70-megawatt wind farm in the southern section of the county, according to the company. "As the first utility-scale wind farm in the county, WWE would benefit the entire Black Hawk County community, provide another form of renewable energy in this area and generate positive impacts for the environment," said Kevin Lehs, a project manager with WWE's parent company, RPM Access.

Maine Aqua Ventus project threatened by rate debate, advocates say
The Maine Public Utilities Commission is considering altering the terms of a 2014 power agreement with the two-turbine Maine Aqua Ventus floating offshore wind pilot, and supporters say this would have negative implications for the project. "To pull back the term sheet after four years of work and investment sends a chilling message to those committed to developing the significant economic, environmental benefits offered by offshore wind to Maine," Robert Peixotto, a former executive at L.L.Bean, wrote in comments to the PUC.
