AWEA: Trump's infrastructure plan holds opportunities for wind
The American Wind Energy Association has expressed support for President Donald Trump's infrastructure proposal, which it says will lead to new energy infrastructure, including transmission lines that will increase the flow of low-cost wind in rural economies. "With 99% of American wind farms built in rural areas, an investment in transmission infrastructure boosts rural economies while improving resilience and reliability, delivering low-cost power to consumers and strengthening US energy dominance," says Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs Amy Farrell.

Okla. judge rules against AEP in preapproval case
Oklahoma Administrative Law Judge Mary Candler ruled Monday that American Electric Power hasn't found sufficient evidence to support rolling the costs into customer rates to purchase Invenergy's 2,000-megawatt Wind Catcher project and associated transmission line. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission will take Candler's ruling into account as it makes a final decision for preapproval on the purchase.

Analysis: Okla. is leading Great Plains in transition to wind
Wind generation is expected to outpace hydro nationwide in 2019, but in some states, such as Oklahoma, that shift has already occurred, writes Jack Money, citing Energy Information Administration data. The Western Farmers Electric Cooperative said it has been diversifying its energy mix for decades, and in November sourced 36% of its electricity from wind, compared with 5% from hydro.

Opinion: Investing in renewables is a smart choice for US
The US on a whole should take note from utilities and other countries and embrace renewables not only for the industry's economic benefits and job creation, but their also if its ability to combat air pollution, writes Tom Hirsch.
