AWEA's Kiernan: PTC extension provides stability, drives investment
The wind energy Production Tax Credit has given the wind industry the stability needed to encourage investment and drive rapid growth, American Wind Energy Association CEO Tom Kiernan said at the Wind Energy Finance & Investment Conference in New York. Kiernan touted the importance of maintaining that momentum as the PTC phases out, especially when it comes to Clean Power Plan compliance.

Pattern acquires 90-MW stake in 179-MW project in Canada
Pattern Energy has acquired a 90-megawatt stake in a 179-MW project in Ontario, Canada, according to the company. "The acquisition of Armow Wind is immediately accretive, providing us with increased cash flow and growing the portfolio to 2.6 gigawatts of owned capacity," said Pattern Energy President and CEO Mike Garland.

Senvion wins 33-turbine supply deal in Norway
Senvion has won a contract to supply the 112.2-megawatt Egersund project in Norway with 33 3.4-MW 114 turbines, according to the company. The project, which marks Senvion's first deal in the country, is expected to begin operations in 2017.

Community Wind wins approval for 75.5-MW in Scotland
Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Keith Brown has approved a request from Community Windpower to build a 75.5-megawatt wind farm in Scotland's Lammermuir Hills, according to both parties.

Project develops cost-cutting installation system for offshore wind
Esteyco, a Spanish research project financed by the EU, has introduced a new system for installing offshore wind turbines that could result in a cost reduction of 30% to 40%, according to the team. The plan, dubbed Elisa, calls for turbines to pre-assembled and pre-commissioned onshore before being towed out to their final destination, eliminating the needed for heavy-lift vessels.

Analysis: Brexit hasn't deterred wind development in UK's Humber region
The UK's decision to exit the EU hasn't had a negative effect on wind development in England's Humber region or the port town of Grimsby, according to this analysis. "I don't think Brexit changes anything because we've got projects in the pipeline and we've got our funds committed up to 2020," said Dong Energy Country Chairman in the UK and Dong Energy Wind Power Managing Director Brent Cheshire.
