What is the value of a wave?
The Center for the Blue Economy at the Monterey Institute of International Studies promotes ocean and coastal sustainability by providing the best available information to empower governments, NGOs, businesses, and concerned citizens to make educated decisions about the marine environment. Check out the website to see current research.

Staff and faculty of the center are leading experts in issues of ocean and coastal resource management. Students who work as fellows in the Center for the Blue Economy are pursuing a master's degree in International Environmental Policy. Students may specialize in Ocean and Coastal Resource Management, which combines the traditional fields of marine science, policy, and law with courses focused on the economic and management challenges posed by increased coastal development, demand for ocean resources, and the threats from climate change.

The Center is home to the National Ocean Economics Program (NOEP), which is the premier source for ocean and coastal economic data and analysis. The CBE is expanding the scope of NOEP to include additional national data, new international data, and additional tools to support researchers and policymakers.
