Shelburne Planning Board rejects subdivision; Puts windfarm under commercial ban
SHELBURNE — The Planning Board Wednesday night rejected a subdivision application for the Mount Massaemet Windfarm — an action that could keep the four-turbine electricity generating facility from going forward, now that the town has a ban on commercial-scale wind turbines. The subdivision plan was filed on April 30, one day before annual town meeting voters would decide on a wind moratorium and on an article banning commercial-scale wind turbines. Quebec renewable energy group opposes Derby Line wind

Municipalities weigh concerns with windmills; Canajoharie approves moratorium
CANAJOHARIE – The town passed a local law regulating the height, noise levels and setbacks of windmills, and other towns are re-examining where their laws stand. Township's protest passes muster after all; State's attorney changes position on wind energy objection
DIXON – Two weeks ago, Lee County State's Attorney Henry Dixon said two townships failed to properly submit their objections to a proposed wind energy ordinance. Days later, he shifted his position. Dixfield residents air views on wind ordinance

School wind turbines shut down over safety fears
Wind turbines have been turned off at 16 schools in the Highlands amid fears they may be sited dangerously close to pupils. Comments period on 30-year eagle takings permit extended
The period for commenting on a proposal to create a longer, 30-year federal permit for non-purposeful killings of eagles by wind energy and other projects has been extended to July 12. After reading Mr. Robert Spangler's letter regarding his enthused motivation for the quick inception of wind development in Garrett County and steadfast commitment to achieving this goal, I pondered what his true motivation for such actions may be ("No more property tax hikes in Garrett County," April 25 Times-News). Church states turbines plans are for profit
It was confirmed at a meeting on Tuesday night that the Diocese of Exeter's proposal to put up six wind turbines was to "maximise profits". Energy towers proposal in San Luis gets initial OK from council
SAN LUIS, Ariz. — The city council here gave preliminary approval Wednesday to a proposal to convert wind to electricity inside two towers that would stand thousands of feet in height on the city's southwest corner. Scottish pressure group Communities Against Turbines Scotland has dismissed a DECC report claiming that there is a strong economic case for increased onshore wind development as the desperate propaganda of an industry in crisis. Lairg wind farm would affect wild land – SNH
A proposed 22-turbine windfarm at Sallachy, north of Lairg, would result in the loss of a large area of wild land, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) has advised. Talks over wind farm plans sought after project agreed
Urgent talks are being sought with the developer behind the biggest onshore wind farm in England and Wales which is to be built between Neath and Aberdare. MONTPELIER, Vt. – Northern Power Systems in Barre now has a new CEO. In a cost-cutting move last week the company replaced its chief executive and trimmed its workforce. Chatsworth community wind farm plans submitted
Plans for a 450-acre community wind farm on land owned by Derbyshire's Chatsworth Estate have been submitted. It is hoped the turbines on grain fields near the village of Scarcliffe, near Bolsover, could generate an income of up to £750,000 per year.
