Dear Daniel,

Nuclear power plants barely re-produce the energy required to create and run them, yet they burden us with horrible risks.

Nuclear plants don't have public support and they can't make it in the "free market" because nobody other than the government (meaning, we the taxpayers) will guarantee loans or subsidize their insurance.

Help stop the only two new nuclear plants in line for construction.

Georgia's double-reactor Vogtle project has been sold thanks to federal loan guarantees. Even though President Obama wants to lavish $8.33 billion in financing on Southern Company, the company is balking at the terms imposed by the White House Office of Management and Budget.

So are Georgia ratepayers, already facing higher payments that Southern Company gets to keep whether or not it ever builds anything.

This is corporate welfare at its worst
.

Tell the Office of Management and Budget not to lower its standards, and in fact to raise them.

Let's make this the last time new, taxpayer-subsidized nuclear construction is considered in this country!

Please forward this email widely to like-minded friends.

Onward,
