Using every last bit of your soap means less waste (and less packaging).

- Teaching kids not to waste like crazy. A project like this is a great way to introduce the little ones to the concept of using everything up.
 As we found out the hard way, it can take a long time to get the soap outta whatever melting apparatus you use - but if you put it in the freezer for an hour or so, it'll come out way easier.
 Feels a little crunchy, but it's a surprisingly fun project to do with the kids. - Use a cheese grater to grate your bits of soap into shreds, then either put 'em in a microwave-safe container and zap them for 1-4 minutes (or until it's got the consistency of apple sauce) or heat them up in a double boiler. Pour the liquid into a mold, let it harden, then take it out of the mold and air-dry it for a week or so.
