Mama Earth needs some lovin', so let's do her right by celebrating our lovely planet. In honor of Earth Day, Yelp's going leaner and greener...

First off, let's ditch the gas guzzlers and get ridin' eco-friendly style--bring on the bikes! Robin W is a fan of the Working Bikes Cooperative, a "fantastic group of people who fix used/discarded bikes and sell 'em cheap to support bike transport," and Rocky B agrees after "walking out with a sweet one-speed Schwinn for $45!" Lara W treks to Uptown Bikes to get her ride fixed up and loves the "little corner where you can buy used parts - that's right, used parts!" Set to jet? Take a trip down the Lakefront Path, where Carolyn G "loves to ride along the lake"on her two wheeler, and if you want to get involved further, Nick H tells us to check out the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, responsible for all of the bike initiatives in the city. Saving the Earth, one bike at a time.

Gotta basket on that bike, speedster? Spring has sprung and that means better fruits and veggies, so promote local sustainability by going the indie grocery route. Stanley's a popular man these days; Daniel W explains: "his place is packed full of fruit, veggies, and other cool food items like giant pickles and olives." Hyde Park Produce gets Purnima M's vote with "fresh finds and stupendous variety," while Carolynne R is sold on Family Fruit Market where she snagged "a sweet potato almost as big as her head!" Lookin' to go shopping al fresco? Starting on May 14th, Justin B will be beatin' a path to Chicago Green City Market where he plans on scoring "Turkish eggplant, eight ball zucchini and some damn fine crepes" among other goodies. Can't beat farm fresh!

Ok, so maybe all of this is sound like a lot of... work. Luckily, intrepid yelpers have scouted some spots that take care of the effort. Suz C sips on organic cocktails at eco-conscious Butterfly Social Club where they employ "fresh juices and herbal ingredients like kava kava and goji berries," and Robyn T tips us off to the entire menu at "Crust, the first all-organic restaurant in the Midwest!" Oh, you green warriors, you!

Yelp's a lean, green, Earth-lovin' machine. Happy Earth Day (and night)!

Penny S. on Lincoln Square Lanes
"The only star I'm removing is for the warped lanes. Luckily, I figured out the trick, bowled from the left to compensate and got my first turkey (albeit in the 10th frame and I still only pulled out a 104 score but whatever!)

The bar staff was so lovely, she bought us a round and made sure we knew…"

rob p. on Lalibela
"A few months ago, a sign popped up across the street from my place:
Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant. Three weeks ago it disappeared. A few days later, the sign returned and, as of this week, Lalibela is open for business. My girlfriend and I finally made it over last night and much to our delight it…"

Jessie B. on The ComedySportz Theatre
"Being from Chicago, I'm always looking for non-tourist things to do. Boy can it be hard sometimes. You sure do get sucked in on "What's going on on Michigan Ave..." or "Let's see the Sears Tower"...I was very eager to entertain my brother when he came in this week, so I decided to go to Comedy…"

The Great Breakfast Project
"Back in January [or maybe early February?] 2007, The Reader's food section focused on breakfast spots.  My roommate and I decided to try all of them out and have gone somewhere different almost every Sunday since.

This list includes a ton from that issue as well as an ever-growing number of other…"
